I have discovered that Trailboss is/may be useful in certain rifles at subsonic speeds and would like to start experimenting in my 1894s 44. Thinking of my 220 gr NEI boolit that has been accurate at higher velocities. Quiet may be good.

Anyone w/experience that wants to chime in and advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have shot alot of TrailBoss in 357-41-44-45Colt and find that about 75% capacity (after seating the bullet) works best. I measure the bullet from the crimp groove to the base and lock my calipers. Then fill up the case with trail boss untill the depth rod just starts to touch when the base of the caliper is on the case mouth. Take that powder, weigh it and multiply it by .75. That's what I start with.

I just loaded up a bunch of 210 grain rnfp in my 41 mag and loaded using this same method and with soft cast lead, I get FANTASTIC accuracy and a quiet low recoil round.
