What are these ingot's? They are 25 inches long and weigh 20 lbs. Seem very hard and ring like a bell when dropped. 7112571126

most likely linotype. Printers melted and reused the alloy and some brands of ingot molds had a message like that. Excellent find, I am envious.

...I am envious.

The molds that made them were double ended Linotype molds, so I would bet it is all Linotype (4% Tin, 12% Antimony, 84% Lead). Great stuff for making alloys.

Only thing better would be Solder ingots that big! Great find! It should melt low at around 475 degrees F and cast shiny, high detail ingots.

I think that we all are ENVIOUS!

The story, every picture needs a story. This is over 300 lbs of lead, as I thought all Linotype. It was found in a junk yard this morning and I paid 40 cents a pound for it. I have checked junk yards for years and years and never have I ever found anything like this before.

Did you try and get it for free? It says right on it," NOT TO BE SOLD"
Worth a try. Haha

Why do they say "not to be sold"? I am sure they had to be sold at some time. And no, I was happy with the price as it was.
