Nope this was an old black enameled, cast iron #5. Predates the #55 by many years. Hunterldh- now I understand your PM. Thanks anyway.

IIRC the #5 was made into the 40's at least. It worked about like the #55. Would have been neat to have.

I got one! They are a little harder to adjust but they work just fine. Mine came in a box with an ad sheet for the newest tools from Ideal in 1898. I sure would like to get one for ONLY $26 bucks. Heck I'd even go $27 bucks!

Just in case it makes you feel better....remember that on Ebay's auctions the winning bidder usually bids 50% over the actual value of any item that you really want. So even though the guy got it for $26, he undoubtably bid $126.00...so you wouldn't have won the auction anyway!

You would be surprised how many Ebay auctions I have won by less than a dime.
