Any one ever notice that gas prices always go up before Memorial Day and Labor Day? And the same reason is that a refinery or two are down every time? And the refinery always come back online a week later?

We have to fund this ever growing government shomehow,, jerks want to rise the tax too, make us all drive hippy cars that run off love and sun.

I think it is a vast right or left wing conspiracy. Or else just plain greed.

No new refineries approved since Obama was elected-oil companies just point at him and tell us "his fault".

My wallet certainly has noticed. Up 40 cents a gallon in a week here.

Ever notice it goes up far faster than it ever comes down?

So, right wing and left wing conspiracy. The enemies conveniently have each other to blame, to their mutual benefit.

They did not make any during Bush years either. Oil men don't want cheap oil prices either, they make their money when the oil costs are high.
I solved my high gas costs 5 years ago by buying a Toyota.

It's gone up a dime a gallon overnight twice here in the last week.

They are going to get it right at $4.00 a gallon by Memorial Day, just in time for summer vacations.

On top of the normal price increase Maryland gas tax goes up on June 1st.

I paid $4.09+ last weekend. Maybe they should stop exporting gasoline when a refinery goes down to accommodate switching from winter blend to summer blend as well as the reverse.

At $4.00 a gallon it must be much better gas than it was a few weeks ago.

It's called "rockets and feathers." Prices go up like a rocket and float down like a feather.

Up $0.65 cents here in the last 3 weeks. It is all to make more $.

Wait until they mandate the 15% ethanol. You think food prices are high now, just wait. Ethanol is not a cure all. You use more gas when it contains any ethanol. We have been using it here in Iowa since the 70's. Take whatever % ethanol is in the gas then divide that by 50%. That is the avg. percentage of how much less gas mileage you will get.

I wish I could buy real ethanol (ethyl, or course) from ADM at 4 bucks per gallon. I am sure I can find someone around here to make a 40 gallon white oak cask. Heck, I will buy an electric cement mixer (for brass, don't you know) to slowly roll the produce to minimize curing time. Maximum speed of rotation should be between 1 and 2 meters per second at the circumference. 1 year aging in this gadget should be roughly equal to 12 years of stationary time. ... felix

About 1 1/2 years ago I bought a diesel VW Golf, it replaced the VW Jetta we had before.
The Jetta got about 32 mph and the Golf is now getting 43-46mph.
At the time diesel was about 40-50 cents a gallon higher than gas, but with the increased fuel mileage I was still ahead.
Now gas is $4.00+ a gallon in good old CA (we have a few gas taxes) and diesel is usually just a few cents higher, so now I am way ahead on mileage/cost.

The last couple of weeks, diesel has been below gas and I am smiling even more.

The real scheme is that for every $0.10 it goes up it only comes down $0.08. The price slowly creaps up, we all get used to paying it and we only complain when it jump around the holidays.

it's not just before the major driving long holiday weekends either it's also just before uncle sugar's monthly check as well , but yeah up more than $.50 here in a week and latest newstory said it's supposed to go up again and them come back down ...never forget that late last fall they said it was going to be $4.00 by summer and it had been inching down ( was close to 3.10-3.20 a week and a half ago and now is just shy of $4.00 ) so they knew last year that they was going to do this this year , yeah it's a racket and yes it's caused by greed

Been noticing that since about 1960. Nothing out of the ordinary. Gasoline is one of the most competitive marketplaces in the country, so can the conspiracy theories and enjoy the ride.

In the past I have seen used whisky barrels for sale on-line. You might check around and see what you can find. And you can make your own ethanol if you try. You can also find lots of info regarding that on-line. You just have to be careful. Big Brother might be watching!

It's actually not a conspiracy theory, it's a fact. Evidently you aren't aware that this country now EXPORTS gasoline; gasoline that could stay here and help mitigate the "seasonal" price hikes.

I limit myself to 40.00 per fill up with my Jetta. With only a 15 gallon tank, 45.00 would fill it at 3.00 a gallon. But I used to be in the fire company, don't know when you will be out all night long with it running. Son I fill up between half and 1/4.

Now my diesel truck is different story. That's like a Harley or highly tuned muscle car. Only comes out once in a blue moon. 4.00 diesel here, and a 1997 F250, about 15-17 mpg if lucky.

Gas goes up, never really comes down, groceries go up, insurance goes up. But I work same amount of hours and the taxes are more and more. In a few ears I don't know how anyone is going to afford anything.

B.O.H.I.C.A. , up here about $0.6-$0.7 a gal. Pilot just opened a new truck stop/ gas station on I-95 so that helps. Even caused wally worlds murphy to lower their price. Did I say I Hate wally world?
