What are used model 29's selling for in your area.
I have a friend looking for one, preferably with the 8 3/8 barrel and prices seem to start around 700 up to over a 1000 around here. These typically have a holster and part of a box of ammo, some have the original box.

Everything is high now.
$700-800 is about the average going price here in the swamp.

I would say at least $750.The 8 3/8" would bring a premium because it is no longer made.I am looking for an 8 3/8" model 57.

I lucked into a 8 3/8s model for 675, though it was 750 by the time I paid registration fees & sales tax. Before this, the lowest price I've seen in the last two years was 725. Most are up around a Grand.

Running about $750.00 around here. But with complete wood box, etc they are more money. I just traded my 29 for a like new 625. I thought that was a good deal.

Kinda thirsting for a M-29 variant in 4" trim. I was going to sell off my 5.5" Redhawk to help swing the deal, but 29s are as scarce in CA as hen's dentures. Just standing pat until this latest ideation of idiocy abates.

The model 29's in 8 3/8" are going for 800 -900 around here. I have seen 2 sell for that price range lately on local boards. But it seems that everything is high around here. I was really surprised to see the long barrel guns, as I had not seen any in a long time. Everyone around here (DFW) was holding on to them.

And this was just the gun, no holster, no ammo! One had the original presentation box, but the other one was bare.

I guess the prices I have seen are about right, or at least comparable, kinda glad I like the old single action rugers. lol

a couple months ago was at an auction and a real nice used one with box (not a wooden presentation) sold for $1,400...at the gun shows, they usually are asking around $1,000. On my to buy list, but I am 3 years too late...prices have been climbing steadily on those.

Wow, I remember giving 400 for a 6" in the presentation box, unfired condition, cleaning kit, nickel, etc. Glad I bought it now. That's a good thing considering I haven't got to shoot it in the last 20 years that I've owned it.

20 YEARS, it seems like some law has been broken there.

I bought one in a Faintich gun auction in St. Louis about 15 years ago for $250. It was part of a Smith twelve revolver collection. I also got the model 66 from the same group for $200. People were mad at S&W at the time for being involved in English money and wouldn't give much for them at that time. I have no idea why they broke the 12 revolvers collection up as I would have given them more as a group than they got as almost all of them went for around $200 except another 44 that had non fluted cylinders. It went for about $450 when two people got into a bidding war. Each gun had a scene on the side plate and none had been fired. I gave the 66 to a friend for his 70th birthday and have never shot the 44 or even turned its cylinder.

At minimum, a moral outrage. REVOLVER NEGLECT--FILM AT 11! :)

One of our local stores has an 8 3/8 model 625 .45 Colt in really nice shape for $750.

Bought an 8 3/8 inch 629 from a local dealer in upstate NY who doesn't use the internet for $525 3 months ago. Not near as good as my best friend who walked in last week and bought an Anaconda 6 inch 45Colt for $700. I'm pretty sure deals like this are extremely hard to come by these days.

I got my S&W pre-29 from the S&W forum classifieds a year and a half ago for $900 without tools or a box. It had some chipped incorrect target grips on it that I replaced with a nice set of Cokes that I found for $300. I've seen many nicer ones go for a lot more so I guess that I got my money's worth. It is a nice shooting pistol, and I doubt that I will ever sell it. There is something special about an old crafted Smith wheel gun. I got it on a C&R license and it came shipped right to my door; how cool is that?!

Nephew sent me a text last month of a 83/8 model 29 in 44 mag. with box and papers , 600 asking price , have one already with grooves on the rib for scope mount I guess , so I passed . Other projects in the works, though I told him it was a fair price depending on use and wear .
Beautiful guns those smiths , have some of the N frames in .357 , as for 20 years of not being shot , some of mine are around 10 years .
