Hi, I have a 94AE that misfires with light primer strikes, you can definitely see by looking at the dimple that it just isn't hitting hard enough, cock the hammer and hit it again and it goes off every time it misfires, it isn't misfiring 100% of the time, maybe 75%, I tried Tula and Winchester primers with no difference.
I haven't broke it open yet, firing pin seems to move freely, I am thinking weak hammer spring, anyone had this problem? The picture shows the one on the left is a misfire, compared to the right fired one. Thanks,
Darrell

Make sure the hammer is moving freely crud build up could be slowing it down also. A quick way to see is spray action out with aresol cleaner, then an air hose. Wear a face mask doing this as crud will fly everywhere. Do it both cocked and uncocked. Then try it. A primed case no powder or bullet will give you an idea. Dust and dirt from storage mixed with old oil grease can make a really sticky thick combination.

mine was just crud in the firing pin enclosure. Old oil and powder/dust. Good luck. Maybe a gunsmith micro cleaning.

Thanks, I've got it all apart, will try cleaning and polishing any burrs first.

.

If it's a rebounding hammer, I'd slightly shorten the shorter/lower forward leg/fork of the mainspring strut.
