I traded into a bunch of what I was told was xray room lead. It is very soft, but is around 1/4" thick. It also is "welded" together in spots. Do these welds have tin in them? Here is a crappy pic71009

Use a scribe or a chisel or something and see if the welds are any harder to scratch maybe?

About the only way I know of attaching 1 piece of lead to another is soldering. I would assume there is tin in the solder used here.Robert

You're going to have to cut it apart anyway to melt it down. Might as well cut next to the seams and keep the welds separate till you figure out what they are - then use appropriately.

Even if there is some tin in the joint, I can't see it being a problem.

I got a large sheet of it and just melted it for pure lead.:2gunsfiring_v1:

be careful that lead is radioactive. Send it to me for disposal.:kidding:

That x ray shielding is some really great soft lead.
