just did a search of walmart online "hotplate" and found a bunch. they list a pile of stuff online that is not sold in stores. i buy that way all the time. have it shipped for free to your local store. they e mail when it arrives.

Hard to recommend a LOCAL store when you don't state your location...just sayin. Kartooo has it right, order online with ship to store and pick it up locally.

I was unable to find one in any WalMart, so my wife gave me the one from her office and bought a double element one from the local grocery.

try your local mom and pop hardware store. Can't be corporate, has to be mom and pop. I bet you'll have luck for $20

When I bought mine at walmart, they were approximately $11.+ tax. Two weeks later they were out and I haven't seen one since. If it doesn't move fast enough, they don't restock.

Goodwill, $1.68 for a perfectly good one in their "disposal" store where you "dumpster dive" through their bins for $2.50/lb for anything you want. I couldn't find one in a traditional store for less than $15.

Bought mine at Walgreens for ~$11. I had to try several of them before I found one that had them in stock, so it might be worth making a few calls.

Of course, several days after I bought it, I found one for $2 at a Goodwill type store. [smilie=b:

Amazon - Prime works - 2 days to my door.

Bog Lots tends to carry them in the summer - around "sending kids off to college time" (even though every college known to man forbids them in dorm rooms.)

I looked for one at several Wla-Marts when I needed one and they didn't have one. I found a NICE double burner at a thrift store. This one has spoiled me....lol

As said WalMart has them online. Only thing I would add is shipping (to your door) is usually low enough that it doesn't pay to have it shipped to the store.

Ya cookin up a batch of waffles? I just set my molds on the top of the pot while it heating up and by the time the load is ready, the mold is pretty much there also!

But a hotplate is nice to have to cook up a grilled cheese while you are waiting. PbO2 makes an excellent condiment! HA.....ha.

I did find 30-40 Bread Machines at prices from cheap to free if someone can devise a casting use before the supply peaks.

I think Hot Plates are just too useful and used ones are rare around here.

dont know if it was mentioned, but a great tip i got from fiver is to get a small metal can and place it over the top of the mold when it is heating up on the hot plate and it creates sort of a small oven and greatly improves the mold preheat... any type of canned food type can works good, i think i used one for canned chicken chunks
