You might not be happy with the accuracy that slow. That boolit shoots best at about 1300 fps, mine are 1316 fps.
I tested them slower and kind of sprayed the whole cardboard. They need to be stabilized.

I had the same issues. It seems to like a little hot sauce on it's rear end. I would say the upper end of a 2400 load or go to H110/W296.

1300fps plain base is ok with no leading?

I loaded the 310 with full house 2400 and still couldnt get any accuracy out of it. I guess My Ruger SRH couldnt get it spinning fast enough.

270 grains is a good weight for the .44 magnum. Too bad Lyman quit making that mould a few years back.It shoots good in my S&W 629 Classic 6.5"

The Speer #13 manual shows 22.5 of 296 and a 300 grain bullet for around 1200fps.Speer is usually hotter than most other manuals.I have the RCBS 300 gas check bullet, but haven't had time to test it yet.
I would always start low and work the loads up, watching for excessive pressure.Looks like 296 0r 110 give the highest velocities.

My batch (OLD) of WC 820 is H110 speed.

Lee C429-310 and 18.5 - 21.5 was tested.
18.5 was most accurate at 50 out of my 9.5" SRH.

I have to seat this boolit deep (top crimp groove) as there interference with the throat in the chamber.

OK,,,FINALLY GOT OUT TO THE range this morning
315 gr / 10 gr Unique
at 50 ft from rest
Ruger...1-1/4 x 1-1/4 six round group
Interarms Dragoon....3/4 x 1-1/4 six round group

the Ruger has a shorter barrel....5-1/2" vs 7-1/2" for the Interarms
the Ruger bucked alot more ,,the Interarms held steadier not so much muzzle flip
also compared to the Ruger the Interarms has more clearance between the back of the trigger guard and the grip so my knuckles don't get busted
all in all not bad !
I would post pictures but I lost my faithful camera.....grrrrrrrrrrr !

I bought My virginia dragoon in 78, several of my friends had rugers, and it did not buck as bad as the rugers, but fast forward 30 years. I do not have anywhere near the strength in my hand as I used to, so now my ruger with pachmyer grips is easier to handle than the dragoon with the slick wood (only option). The dragoon bust my knuckle pretty bad now, soooo I gifted it to my grandson last christmas in care of my son for a few years. lol

The dragoon was a great gun, absolutely nothing wrong with it at all, if there were more user friendly grips I would have likely given him the ruger.

hi starmac,,,,
I just turned 66....got good strong hands thanks to all the wood chopping
I find the Ruger grips just a little small for my hands and the dragoon is a better fit....also that dragoon is heavier which helps the recoil
the dragoon is harder to lug around in the field but it seems to fit my hand better....

Glad to hear you have not lost your strength, I don't know why but I have lost a lot the last few years. That's a lie, it is cause i got lazy. lol I do not do much physical work anymore. lol The grips I have on my ruger makes it actually fit my hands better, but the reason I gave him the dragoon is, it will for sure stay around for at least another 20 years or more. The boy has had dibbs onmy old nothing special model 99 for close to twenty years and will get it one of these days too.

OH yeah. I shoot PB in all of my revolvers.
The GC was made for soft lead boolits to halt skid at the base.

I reamed the gas ck sections out of my lee mold so my bullets weigh 317 with lube. I running mine behind 18 grains of imr 4227 for a average vel of 1100 fps out of my super redhawk. Off the bench at 50 yards with a red dot scope it'll stay on a 3 inch dot if I do my part.
