I am about to charter into cast bullets in 223 rem, I have an RCBS 2 cav mold 55gr rnfp. I have heard that cast don't work to well in the 223, My rifle is a Savage axis bolt action. Is there any advice you can give me to start off with?

My advise would be to google search this site and 223. There is a couple of days good reading on the subject.

Separate your bullets by the tenth of a grain, shoot as cast, buy good gas checks that seat squarely and seat your bullet to kiss the rifling. About 2000 fps was my best accuracy being a tad over 1/2" at 50 yards

I appreciate the help and can't wait to try them out.

Go to castpics and read Beagle's (I think its Beagle's anyway) articles on Cast in the .223. It is a wealth of knowledge.

I went to the range today and wanted to shoot my Savage Axis today. I loaded up some 63gr 223 with 6grs of Red Dot and some with 10grs of 2400. And I shot them at 50yds. An my god I was so happy. This load works as well with 55gr bullet. The Savage Axis will out shoot a lot of higher dollar rifles I love them.
