I now have another problem. After cutting back the ends of the heating element on my SAECO pot, I tried to loosen the screw on the stat and the screw broke off and the stat fell apart. The only thing left is the bracket in the front of the pot. Is there another way I can control the temp of the pot?? Not too expensive. I am trying to save an old casting friend. The pot is in good shape and now the element has been brought back to life. I hope this is the last block that is standing in the way. Any ideas???

PID If you shop aound and use stuff you have on hand (like an old computer power supply for the case, old wire and switches) you can probably make one for 50 to $60. Look on evilbay and pick up a MYPIN PID and thermocouple along with a 25 amp SSR and a heat sink.

After searching a little bit I found this old thread http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?55431-Here-s-the-thermostat-on-my-Lyman-61-melter&p=586405&viewfull=1#post586405 it looks like the thermostat will fit the Saecos also. This is a direct link to the thermostat http://orders.ppe.com/odr/rbpperetail.htm?p-part=B-200 there is also a link to someone who replaced the element on a Saeco.
