Found four pewter mugs with the clear bottoms at my local Value Village for $1.99 each. It scratched easily and did not ring when the rim was flicked so I took a chance. At home they underwent torch test passed as it started to melt almost immediately. The 4 mugs made up 2lbs 10oz and change after the glass was removed. I always see these posts but now it's my turn!

Considering I only have this small amount should I just save them for when I need them or should I smelt them down into 1/2lb Lee bars and live with losing the angel's share?

Congratulations on getting into the game!

Small ingots (a trickle down the V of an angle iron, large caliber boolit molds, 1/4 full small Lee cavities, the curved bottom of upside down beverage cans) make for the easiest additions. Just tearing them up with a pair of pliers works too, but it is more difficult to tear out exactly the weight you were looking for.
