I accidently bought two boxes of Hornady 55 gr .224 V-maxes that are moly coated. I thought I was getting uncoated ones. These were to be used in a brand new Savage 12 to break in the barrel. The rifle will eventually be used with cast boolits.

Should I tumble the J-warts to get the moly off? I've never used moly bullets before and don't typically believe in marketing hype garbage. Would the moly do any harm to the barrel if the rifle is going to shoot cast eventually?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

I figured out that a strong solution of Lemishine stripped the moly off some hard to find bullets that I found cheap enough to risk an experiment. I think they were home coated, but may be worth a try. If you shoot the moly, then you have to clean it out of the barrel. I figured it would be easier to clean it off the bullets.
