Here's a Krag converted to single shot and barreled/chambered in .22 Maximum Lovell. (Think of an AI'ed R-2 Lovell.) Gun was built by Hervey Lovell himself sometime pre-WWII.

Here's the unique set triggers that are fitted to it. Anybody ever see one like this? I'm told it may have been made by Pacific, way back when. By depressing the front trigger, the trigger arm is caught by the hook on the rear trigger. Rear trigger adjustable to a sneeze-worth of engagement, and when touched, the front trigger arm flies up and hits the kicker and the rest is history.

She shoots, too:

That's 4 shots, 100 yards, .350" (I didn't have the balls to fire the fifth shot!), 50gr. Sierra Blitz, 16.5gr. H-322, CCI BR primer, 70 year old W.R.A. .25-20 Single Shot cases. The rest of the 50 shot range session produced five shot groups averaging between 1/2-3/4", with one ten shot group going slightly under an inch.

Not bad for a 113 year old milsurp, converted to sporting use 75 years ago.

Thanks for posting this. Rifles like yours remind me of the shooters who built and used them, who I knew as old men and mentors when I started shooting.

Now only the rifles remain.

I am impressed! Beautiful rifle from what I can see. We found out a couple weeks ago my grandfather was issued a krag in the spanish american war and now the search (saving funds) is on to find a krag 96. Those old calibers are so appealing to me. I can appreciate the development the new stuff but that gun you have has alot of character!

Thanks for posting this. These old rifles are from their own golden age and most shoot better than they can be held.
Am currently restoring one of the old Krags now in .22 R 2 Lovell. Most of these Krags were bedded at the very rear of the receiver and held in the front usually by a barrel band and sometimes by a sling swivel at the front for pressure.
Am playing with adding a front guard screw about one half inch forward of the receiver ring going into the bottom of the barrel. Bedding should be more solid and conventional. Will allow either regular in the wood bedding or can be glassed. Bedding can be to either the receiver or full length or any combination. If I can get even close to the accuracy you have will be a happy camper !!!!
If you have the time would love to see a few more pics. Action details, anything special, stock design, etc.
Thanks again for the post.
