I'd sure appreciate some help determining which of the Rolling Block rifles manufactured by Remington that were most desirable for a build. I'm pretty ignorant which of these actions would be best if a fellow wanted to build a rifle capable of both BP and smokeless cartridge work for a target rifle. Where would I go for more information on this rifle and how to build up a rifle?

Thanks for any help and direction in getting started with this project.

Regards,

Lee

You can rule out all of the No 1 and No 1 1/2 actions as these were for black powder and would be safe only for black powder pressures and trapdoor loads. For both you need a number 5 action or one made by Pedersolli (these are new made rifles and I don.t think the actions are sold separately. The Number 5 actions are usually found in 7mm Mauser.

It depends on what cartridge you want to chamber it for.
