Ordered a Savage 11 Hog hunter in .308. Just started casting for my .45 and had great results thanks to this sight. Dont have any other molds and wonder what a good mold would be for heavy sub sonic loads. Also any molds that would be as light as i can get but still be accurate at 50 yards. Also any subsonic loads advice would be great. Have access to Unique and Bullseye. Thanks

You really need to watch your case capicity in the 308 sub sonic loads. Too little powder and you can get a flash over that ignites all the powder at once - not good to have happen.

My loads are with 5744 powder, 200gr J-word lapua sub sonic pills, enlarged flash holes with magnum primers. You'll need to work up (or rather down) you're powder charge till you're around 1010fps or so.

If you do some internet searches you'll find quite a bit of info on this.

I assume those are powder charges? Any idea on FPS? And thanks.

Through an integral supressed 308, I am using the NOE 250 grain plain base over 5 grains of red dot. I dont enlarge flash holes or use any voodoo. Just straight forward loading.

I've had the best results with A/C boolits of a fairly soft alloy of 25% COWW / 75% purish lead. FIT helps tremendously for good accuracy. My powders have been Unique/Reddot/Bullseye for loads well under the speed of sound.

the easiest way I found to get subsonic is with trailboss. I back down till the boolit sticks in barrel and then slightly increase powder till boolit clears every time. You will easily tell when you pass subsonic because you get a crack with the boom. Usually the sound is between a air rifle and a 22 short. Getting only a "poof" is very easy but you must look thru barrel every shot to make sure it is clear, and yes it is dirty.

I've been using 7.5gr or Titegroup with the 311284 air-cooled WW weighing around 225gr. From my bolt gun, I can usually get around 1 MOA at 100yds.

Works for me!

170gr LRNFP w/ Copper GC over 4.3gr Trail Boss in Neck Sized Rem. Case that have been Once Fired w/ Factory or Hunting Loads & Mag Primer.
Clear the Barrel Every Time & Group +/-1in. @ 50yds in my 700BDL .308
Sounds Like a .22 Short & has enough Power to Penetrate a 4in. dia. Cedar Fence Post. Lots of Fun at the Range. Someone Always tells me I just had a Misfire & then I shoot 2 more rounds off into a nice little group:lol:
Works Great on Rabbits & Squirrels too:grin:
