What cool stuff have you found while scrounging for lead?

On my second 5 gallon bucket I scored a 6" Craftsman adjustable wrench.

How about you folks?

I have found several MAC, SNAP-ON and Cornwell broken sockets. Usually they are the size that fit the lug nuts and were probably broken using an air wrench. I swapped them for new ones from the tool truck.

In the last bucket I went through I found the tool for removing the wheel weights from the rim. Now to hit a few junk yards.

Nice set of allen wrenches.

Lots of cut off valve stems from which I remove the valves and used the spring from one to adjust the trigger return spring on my 22lr from the lawyer proof 7 lbs pull to a decent 3 lbs.

Recently keeping eyes open for TIN SOWWs of which I have found about 3 lbs worth.

cig lighters that aren't quite empty and I use on the smelting rig.

Several sets of keys, I save all the keys I find or come across etc... save them, over 50 years have gotten over 4 cigar boxes full from all sources.

My last bucket had a few new bolts, like 5/16 and 3/8 which will go into my bolt bin. Also had a new tractor drawbar pin, maybe 7/8 dia. This bucket has sat in a corner for awhile, am thinking most of the ww's may be all lead. Wheelweight buckets do seem to catch lots of trash! Lightman

Last bucket I went through had a "pimp" chrome valve stem cap. Gave it to a friend with shiny rims.

I've gotten several Pimpy valve stem caps and chrome sleeves. I scrap the brass from the valve stems.

While scrounging for lead I have made two really good shooting friends who enjoy stopping at yard sales an such with me on the way home from the range and like going to the river with the metal detector and filling up a bucket with sinkers.

How do you tell they are tin? Bend and listen for crinkle?

I just found out some of the lead-free clip-on weights are tin too.
