Crimp problems with mec 600jr

Can anyone tell me how the finish crimp works on the old 600jr? Does the punch thread into the plate? I have a used one I just set up and it started by smashing my shells. then it wouldn't fully crimp. I don't see what the lock nut locks against unless the punch threads into the plate. In that case it is stripped and wont thread straight in. the one on my grabber is a little different and works beautifully...

Ahhh... I figured it out. the cam crimp punch threads into the plate. Punch threads are ruined and I need new parts...

That's the nice thing about MEC's....parts are readily available and are still very inexpensive. I like them so much that I have three of them: 410/20/12. And the MEC people are very helpful in solving problems too.

the pre 83 600jr manual that is what i did
