I just delt with Henry Arms, In regards to the plastic front sight and barrel band on the .22's.

I e-mailed them saying I understand that the plastic keeps costs down and that I understood that, but they should have after market metal replacements...

Well it took all of about 5 min. to get a reply...WOW!!!! That is the fastest I have ever seen. On top of that The reply was from Anthony Imperato the president of Henry arms. In his reply he gave me the part numbers for the metal replacements.

The best part????? He is sending them to me FREE of charge!!!!!!!!!

I wish there were more companys like this:)

I had one of their 22 levers and it worked well - but I traded it because of that plastic front sight. Never occurred to me to get a replacement. I'd sure like to see a picture of the metal sight after you've mounted it. It's a slick little gun.

I'll be sure to post pics once I get them mounted:)

That same president also brings his employees fresh donuts and fruit in the morning. I read that in American Rifleman years ago. They had nothing but good to say about the man. I like their brass 22 levergun too.

The early 22's had a plastic feed assembly and that has been changed to metal also. They updated mine for free too.

So the metal front sight and barrel band came yesterday. Now my Henry .22 looks like a rifle, not a pellet gun. Slid right on, no fitting needed:) They even spent the money to send it UPS. I'll try to get a few pics up later.

I also put the large loop lever on mine
see before and after pictures, metal front sight is not yet installed in the after
pic.

I then shot 5 rounds offhand at 40 feet using Aquila Colbris

you could cover them with a quarter.

The white dot on the front sight helps a lot.

Went and looked at one. Yep,they are plastic, why do you suppose they did this? Is saving a buck or two worth a crappy product? Also am I to understand the frame is aluminun? What about the brass frame version? I thought about buying one,but not now. Guess I'll keep looking for an older Winchester.

I agree that the plastic/aluminum sucks but.............. As for being a " Crappy product" I guess you have never shot one?????? Their frame may be aluminum but the action is smooth as silk. That is more than I can say about my Marlins and Winchester. I like the fact that my wife and I could afford to buy our kids a .22 for less than $250.00 each. It sure beats $450-$700 for a gun that can't be replaced, And you don't have to cry when they get scratched:)

You are right,I have never shot one,but would wear in an aluminun frame be a consideration over a steel frame.I made reference to Winchester because my brother has a match set,(carbine and rifle) made back in the 50's,which I like very much. Plus I suppose I used the word "crappy" , not to describe a bad rifle, but maybe an inferior parts design. I do agree about the money though, I haven't been able to afford anything new in some time now. Kid's keep wanting shoes for some reason.

This thread brought back too many good memories of plinking with "cheap" Henry 22's. I'll buy the metal parts after this http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=81137700 gets here. Hope they were as smooth as I remember.

The aluminum thing started a thought process for me---IE,the M16,aluminum. My 2" pistol in 32 SW aluminum. I guess I already have some aluminum laying around, damn it man!
