Went to the range last evening and dug some scrap after shooting, I got 88# in 30 min 90% cast boolits. Smelted them this morning and it yealded 70# of good hard lead for a 79.54% yeald I thought that was good.

Were the leftovers mostly jackets or did ya have rocks and dirt? If jackets, they are sellable as #2 brass scrap at most yards.
Sounds like ya done good.

I figure on about 80 percent recovery from my range scrap.

I get about 75% yield. With what #2 copper pays I kind of wish my yield was lower :)

When ya take the jackets to the SY, trade for lead instead of cash. That way you can get good lead at a cheap price and with only your trip cost in it.

First ever smelt of range lead for me was last Friday with an 82% yield of BHN8 cleaned and fluxed ingots.
It was a big weekend for me...
In addition to the smelting, I cast my first wadcutters from Lyman No.2 alloy, lubed and sized them, loaded them, fired them with excellent accuracy and clean burning too! I even recovered a few wadcutters from the berm just for giggles. Good times!

I have an addictive personality so this surprises no one. haha!

I'm already dreaming of hardness testers, ladles, lubrisizers, big bars of tin and 6 cavity molds!

I've been saving mine latley. How clean do you have to get them for them to buy them and tell they are copper??? Mine are all black and ugly.

The range I frequent doesn't allow any 'mining' so I have to be content with what I can pick up off the surface of the ground. Even with those limitations I can get maybe 100# over the course of the year. A few pounds every trip, it all adds up.
