Hi.. all I am new to the forum & shot shell loading

I am using a Saiga 12 & a MKA 1919 shotguns

sense reloading supplies are hard to get right now these are the items I have
16lbs of WIN-WST
5K CCI-209 primers
1K plus Rem black hulls
1K each Waa12 & waa12114f & waa12sL wads my question would this load work ok

Rem black hulls
19-20gr WIN-WST
cci-209 primers
waa12 or waa1114f wad... if i load under 18 grains the Saiga 12 & MKA1919 dont cycle
I got the Lyman 5th book but not load info for this combo with the CCI-209 primers
I cant find any other primers or powder at this time all sold out!

I seen a load posted here by Herman Greer
WIN AA cases
20gr WIN-WST
WIN-209 primers
WAA12 wad thanks to all for help!! mike b

Hello Mike, I checked in Lyman 4th and 5th edition for WST loads, no luck and I myself do not have or ever tried WST powder.

Perhaps some one who has used that powder will come along soon enough.

Best regards,

Zerofixer, did you try here:

http://www.hodgdon.com/

For some reason, they don't show any 1.25 ounce loads with that powder, but they do show 1.125 ounces with your hulls and wads and 20 grains. BTW the Lyman slug is supposed to weigh 1.20 ounces. The subject of wadslugs making less pressure(all other variables being the same) than shot loads has been discussed here before. Good luck.

thanks for the 2 replies if figured that there would be more who would have info.. I think I will go with this, I am using 18.5 grs of WST with this load now and it is working ok no pressure signs on the primer or the shell base & the plastic hull looks ok after a 2nd firing... but again thanks VdoMemorie & pipehand for your input mike

I am using 18.5 grs of WST with this load now...
Rem black hulls

Hello ZeroFixer, if you look at the picture your Win AA 12F114 yellow wad with a .125 nitro card below slug is a good fit,
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee75/Dantebeowulf/Lyman525inwads.jpg (http://s232.photobucket.com/user/Dantebeowulf/media/Lyman525inwads.jpg.html)
just try fold crimp and come up 1/2 gr at a time while watching for pressure signs, it becomes difficult to see pressure signs as Rem. and Win. hulls are made strong, that's one reason I prefer Fiocchi hulls,
no I do not own Fiocchi company, just like them for my testing purposes, they are softer and tend to show pressure sign's.
Does your gun have a rifled barrel?
If its a smooth bore then try this test first:

if its a bit snug then that combo will give better accuracy.

Ajay

Thanks Ajay my 2 shotguns are smooth bore 1 is a Saiga12 & the other is a MKA1919 I have WAA12 / WAA12F114 / WAA12SL /Fig-8 / F12S3 wads & 5k CCI-209 primers, once I can get some I want WIN-WSF & any other good 12 ga powder, I got 16-20 lbs of WIN-WST at this time.. this is what I am doing right now

Rem black hulls
18.5 WST
cci-209 primers
waa12 or waa1114f and is seems to work ok

I am using 18.5 grs of WST with this load now... I might be able to take it up to 20gr of WST 1/2 grains at a time to get better function from both of my shotguns...

I have been reloading regular brass rounds for 33 plus years and just got into 12 gauge reloading sense I now got 2 shotguns mainly to reload buck & slug, I also cast my own slugs & buck as well as 45 acp & 40s&w bullets thanks Ajay for the info! mike
