Hey guys,
Looking for some advice on what scope to put on my AR-47 (AR 15 in 7.62x39)
I built it as a light varmint calling rifle. It's an M4 flattop in 7.62x39. I'm looking for opinions on what to mount for optics. Intended use is for coyote and wolf sized targets, out to 250 yards.

I'm using a Leupold Mark AR 3-9x30 with an illuminated Fire dot TMR reticle on my AR. It's a nice optic that didn't cost too much. Works for my purposes and I'm practicing out to about 200 yards right now with no problems.

I would seriously consider a 2x if there is any possibility at all of shots inside 40 yards.

EO tech red dot with magnifier - great at a hundred and under with just the red dot and magnifier flipped up for further. Will cost more than a scope but a lot of flexibility.

i run a redfield 3-9x40mm and shoot action targets as close as 30 yards on 3x with no trouble. and at 9x can shoot out to 300 yards at coyote size targets.

I run an eotech holographic sight with the trippler on a flip away mount. Also have a set of flip up back up iron sights in case the battery dies or something. I used to have a scope mounted but I like this setup much more.

Scope like this would be my choice as well. Don't skimp on the mounts, either.

Nice rig you have there K7!

+ another on the EoTech. I used mine on my M16A2 in training and Iraq ('04 - '05) and have it on my own AR now. don't use the magnifier and have found it quite effective to 300 yards on wild dogs (Iraq) and coyotes. Awesome up close and the 1 moa dot is deadly at longer ranges.

I have 2 AR's, the one in 6.8SPC has a 4x12 for longer range, no front sight on the gas block, this is my hunting rifle, the 300BO has a red dot and I have a detachable carry handle with open sights for it. They have different uses, the 6.8 is strictly for hunting, the 300BO is for fun.
