I'd love to be there and help you with a brat and watch the race...but I have to work tomorrow....Oh well, got the DVR set to record it. Would love to see that one in person someday. Enjoy the food and the race Jim!

Love that track. The new cars will be interesting to see on it. Best one I recall is when Elliot Sadler went airborne, I think he flew farther than the Wright brothers did on their first flight. Spectacular, especially because he was unhurt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0qxl3xv0lo

My family is from central AL. Talladega has been a family tradition since the race started.

My Uncle (now deceased) was there the day Bobby Allison got air born and into the top of the fence.
He got hit with debris. A 2" long cut in the forehead over his left eye.
The man was more proud of that scare than he was of his silver star.

Hey, I've been there! In 2005 when I visited my friend in Warrior, AL. His hunting property just about borders on the race way.

At least they got rid of that @#$%& wing. That's what was sending then airborne when they got turned around. It didn't take an Aeronautical engineer to figure that out.

I will be hunkered down on the sofa with Dolly and a Tom Clancy book-"Threat Vector". I'm a short-track gal - not a big fan of the super sized tracks.

I can understand that. My favorite race of the year is not the Daytona 500, but the night race at Bristol. Pure fun.

Oh My, The place brings bad memories. The last July or maybe August race, 103 at 11 AM in the parking lot, large beer cooler and a big KFC bucket, PTL I was with 2 lawyers (one was driving). By mid race it was about 110 and EMT's were hauling off folks left and right. I think every ugly girl in Alabama came to flash her mismatched boobs. We were dunking our heads in the cooler to cool off, when you'd pull out you'd see visions, lord help you if it was one of the Alabama girls.

Thank the Lord I got home safely after a sucide run down the emergency lane at about 60 mph and a sprint doen and out one of the tank traps (drainage ditches) getting out of the parking lot.

I still get a shudder passing the exit on I20 going to the CMP.
