BFR Cylinder length

The cylinder length on my BFR is 1.850". It is recessed for the rims. It is much longer then a Freedom.
Linebaugh might open the Ruger frame a little for a longer cylinder but there is a limit.

It's plenty long. You likely won't use all that is available and yes, 1.850" with recessed rims, so you can use boolits with a .450" nose length.

Sounds good. Linebaugh opens the frame top and bottom but the length is made up by using a short forcing cone. I have a two cavity Ballisticast mold for the .475 that was purchased from Lee Jurras a couple of years ago that throws a 420 grain bullet. Everytime I see the mold it looks at me like "what are you waiting for?"
