I know I've heard of some good smelting ladles made by vendors here - can y'all remind me who some of them are?

RotoMetals sells Ballard brand ladles and I have one. Very well made and should last a lifetime.

I have a skimmer and 3#er ladel from RayinNH. Very nice. A 5#er from ebay that I use on my 5# cast iron candle ingots.

I use a dollar store soup ladle.
I also use a dollar store soup spoon with the hole's to get the clip's out.

I bought a Rowell bottom pour ladle. Very nice ladle. Hadn't heard of Ray though. I'll have to check him out too!
For smelting I use a 1 quart stainless steel saucepan as a ladle. $1.99 at goodwill.

Well the pony express just dropped off my ladle and skimmer from RayinNH. They are the perfect size for what I need. It reminds me of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story after she tried all three bowls of porridge...this one is just right! :drinks:
Edited to add: Now if the #*&@ wind would just stop blowing. :brokenima

Well the wind finally died down enough for me to melt about 100 lbs of WW. Darn, my smoker burner took forever! I need to mess with the reg. and see if I can increase the BTU's!!! Anyway I can now do a bit of casting for my renewed addition. The skimmer and ladle from RayinNH worked wonderfully. As a side note, I put on a set of hickory handles to give me more control and reduce the heat transmitted. I'm pretty good at making things, but I would be hard pressed to do a better job than these, especially considering the time involved! :D
