A fellow offered this via phone, for a good price. It is a sc, possibly unused. I looked it up in my Lyman casting book, saw it throws a 175 grn bullet. So, I committed to buy it. When I got it, I found it had the base plug, making it a hollow base, almost Minie-type bullet. Does anyone know about this mould? Is it only going to make a suitable black powder bulle?. I've not heard of such a bullet for modern pistol cartridges.

Yes, will make an excellent BP bullet. Designed for the 45 Colt with the HB for expansion (better obturation in the bore)

I've used it in the .45 Auto with good results. It makes a low recoiling load for practice.
Not a thing wrong with that bullet style.
Good in the 45 Colt.
