Thinking about it i bought my "Super 14" when they just came out (@ $205) and the hammer has a safety on it . This must be a earlier frame with the 14" barrel installed unless i am mistaken they had 10" and 12 " barrels before that?

I love a 44 mag, but not as much in the 'tender. If you shoot it and it rattles your joints, just auction off the barrel for most of what you paid for the pistol and pick up a barrel in another caliber. 30-30, 7x30, 22lr were my favorites (in that order).

Good find.

If you do not like the recoil of the 44 mag do not get a 30-30 barrel!

I know this is a little late but, comparing a 44 to the 30-30 would only depend on what you are shooting through them. Full factory 30-30 loads can be unpleasant but so can a 44 using factory loads. I actually can't tell much difference in them. If you are using cast boolits at modest loads they are both very fun to shoot. In truth it all depends on what you like shoot. I have both 44 and 30-30 TC's and love to shoot them. Great buy there Shooter6br. The first TC I bought cost new back in the 1970 $97.00 + tax.

nice score!

I would pass on the 44 mag, 30-30, and 45-70. im not a recoil fan when it comes to handguns, that's what stocks are for.

I have a 14" 30-30 barrel.
It is the most accurate cast barrel I own. Try 10gr. Unique with any 150-170gr boolit and recoil is not a factor......dale

I have a Contender that is older that one. Mine has a 4 digit serial number, a smaller trigger guard without the trigger stop screw. You may have a 2nd gen Contender.

Don't sweat the recoil if you handload.

Just down load it to taste!!

Really nice find! You do not need any other barrels. I just have a 22 LR match carbine barrel, get along fine, oh then I got the 357 Maximum, but that's it, oh then the 10" 22 Hornet, finished! Then the 256 Winchester, the 10" 22 LR match barrel and the 10 " 222 barrel but those are the only barrels I NEED, and I can stop buying anytime I want, really, it's not an addiction, it's just a hobby!!! Ya Right ! When I hit 25 frames with lord knows how many barrels my wife committed me. I still get the urge everytime I see a barrel I don't have, once your addicted its always there.

Ok, I'm late to the party.
I [almost] have too many barrels for my (3 ?) frames 2 each of the 10" .357s and 14" 30-30s, one .45 colt, one .22 Hornet gifted from a friend, a 45/70. The most fun? 170 grain cast boolits in a 30-30 at steel pigs, real pigs, or gallon sized limestone rock-to gravel. With hard boolits and a good rest your good to whack 200 meter rams. The others are not far behind...
Sure would like to find a long barrel for a American rook rifle.
