I am having trouble finding data for 180gr cast lead using Unique or w231. So I have been loading about 5% under jacketed, but I would like to see if I am near safe limits or if I can go further.

My first loads with cast were all unique, with CCI small pistol primers. I did, 4.0, 4.8 and 6.0 grain loads. The 6.0 was much a man, but I am a little concerned to try fast loads of 231 without some data. Any body load this caliber with these powders? I am thinking about swaping the 231 for something else, but I like the Unique.

I have used 150 Gr cast w/4.5 gr of Unique with excellent results. I also load 5.1 gr Unique with a 155 gr FMJ for Glock shoots & production IPSC with excellent accuracy and reliability. Unique is dirty but I have been using it for decades.

FWIW -

I worked a load for the Lee 401 TC 180 with 4.8 gr Unique CCI LP primer. LOA = just to fit in the mag. Velocity is between 850 and 900.
My son shoots the heck out of this load on steel. He has only been using this for about 6 months, but he has yet to have a malfunction and the barrel just wipes out for clean up.

This is a great practice load - easy on the gun and shooter and shoots to point of aim at 20 yrds.

I too shoot the Lee TC 180 in my Ruger P94, load is 6 grains 231 in front of any primer out there. Might be a little hot for some guns, but Rugers are built like tanks. My 10 year-old keeps me busy loading these, but lately has developed a thing for my 1911 with same powder and charge with 230 grain lead boolits. Good luck.

I picked up a pound of tite group. I am going to have to look up some data since Serria doesn't cover it. I'll make 10 or 15 of the lowest, go up in about 10% increments until I reach the max recommended. I hope to touch them off tomorrow.

Any good info on 180 grain cast loads with Tite group.

I use 5.5 grs. of Unique or 5.8 grs. of Herco. OAL is as long as you can get to feed and function in your pistol. Mine are 1.140 in.

For Unique I liked 4.0gr with magnum primers and 6.0gr with standard. The 6s were very powerful. I have some 4.8 with magnum primers to try.

So far I am not very happy with tite group, but I usually hate my inital loads. I have 250 loaded 4.7gr and I plan to do another 250 at 4.5 grains. My thrower puts out 5.0 or 4.5 grain load, nothing in between, yet.

I use titegroup for my 45acp and 9mm loads, I like it just fine.
I've also experimented with titewad, but only because hodgdon told me not to. ;)

3.5 grains of titewad (that's shotgun, not pistol powder) under a 45acp puts em on target real good with no leading and the recoil of a 22lr.

I am back to unique. I still don't like titegroup, too fast for my taste. I built 900 6.0 grain rounds last week, that should keep me shooting for a couple of days.
