Hi everyone!
I am new at reloading 7-30W with cast boolits. I decided to use an RCBS 145 grain mould and a Lee 130 gr mould.
Yesterday I cast 100 rounds of the RCBS and I noticed that the lead I have drop them at 157.6 grains and they end up weighing about 161 grains after gas check and lube.
What loads should I try with this arrangement. My gun is a G2 contender and the barrel is a super 14". So far, it seems to be a tack driver at 50 yards with conventional copper jacketed bullets. With the price of factory components, I am in need of a crash course in cast boolit reloads. Starting with the 7-30W.
Any successful loads out there that I can test? (min- max loads) at my own risk, of course. Thank you.

I run 18.5 gr SR 4759 in mine with the 130 lee water cooled WW , 17.5 gr. 4759 with a 160 Lyman silhouette bullet. Both shot very good in my gun and what I've been using for IHMSA The load and the gun are good for 1/2 scale rams at 200 M . It's the dude pulling the trigger that comes up short

Marshall,
Thank you for the info. I have not seen SR4759 powder in the shelves lately. I have tried Blue dot (18.5gr BD, 130gr Speer SP). I have also tried (22gr 2400, 130gr sp); just because that is pretty much the powder I have at hand, including other powder such as: H110, H4198, H4895, AA1680, Red Dot, Unique, and Bullseye.
What velocities do you get with that cast loads?

the 130's are running about 1880 fps and the 160's are running 1850 fps. I think the SD was in the teens on the 130's and single digit on the 160's. I'll have to look though my notes to see the charge I used but I've used H 322 with those 2 boolits with good results but 4759 fills the case better .

I use SR-4759 too, but I reluctantly went back to J's for this one. I have the same mold, but I had to seat it just too deep. My short lead in my T/C won't let me even put it on the crimp groove.

Haven't shot the 7-30 Waters in 14 in mag ported for a while but like 9.5 grains Universal behind 120 grain cast GC bullet. You might start there and work up for your preferred load. Also like to use the Lee Crimp Die!!
