I've been looking for a load for my 1911 using 250 grain swc's.
I think I found it. I shot these 2 groups at 15 yards offhand. Both are 7 shot groups.
The load is a 250gr swc cast from the catshooter's GB mould, loaded over 4.7 grains of unique.

Good shooting!

Years ago I did the same thing. Worked up a load using the Lyman 454190 and used Unique, but a little more than you are using. Though it was accurate and powerful, it was hard on equipment.

Unique is one of those powders that just plain seems to work on a variety of calibers.
Bye the way, that should be a great defensive load;-)

That is a great bowling pin load. We used to use Unique and 231 to drive those big bullets at pins at Second Chance. In those days time stopped when the pin hit the ground and not on the last shot. Big bullets always worked best. I still have my H&G mold for 230 gr wad cutter 38's that was rough on pins. The loaded ammo looked like a small roll of dimes as much of the bullet stuck out of the 38 SPL case.
