I have a vaquero with a birdshead grip chambered in 45 acp which I use for cowboy matches and as a carry gun. I really like the grip, and a tight squeeze with my ring and bird finger with a pinky under/ behind almost eliminates roll up and follow ups are quick ( a double tap slip hammer is just as fast as a 1911, a new skill I am working on after watching and copying an amazing cowboy shooter a few weeks ago) with 255 swc and 260 rnfps at around 800 fps. Cowboy loads are even quicker with less roll up. I like the frame for carry as it does not print. I just ordered a "lightening" frame for my 4 5/8 blackhawk as it is similiar, but also has the double action hump at the top. I have thought about this for a few years, asked questions and decided to get one. I have an acp cylinder for the BH, but also shoot some moderate ruger only 45 colt 255-260's at 1025-1050 fps and some 300's around 950. Does anyone have experience with hotter loads and this grip frame?
Thanks!
Jason
