...after a few false starts I was able to cast some passable boolits from my 457125 and 20:1 alloy. Made up sixty 45/70 rds with RP brass, Win primers, and 23.4 gr 5744. Recoil was mild and had loads of fun bustin' dirt clods on the 75yd berm of a nearby range. No need to mess with the fixed sights if I decide to hunt with it as will hit the vitals at 75yd as is. Launcher is Uberti (Pedersoli) 1874 Sharps with 34" 1 in 18" twist, hooded front and semi-buckhorn rear. Haven't tried the long-range tang sight yet as no long range around here 'less I join a club.
Thanks to all who gave helpful advice on previous posts. The Accurate 5744 sure works well with way less than full case loads, Thanks to Lyman for makin' good stuff and the Georgia DNR for providing the free range.
