Lyman #30 1/2 Tang Sight, 1920's-1930's production. I'm going to mount it on my 1936 Savage. Anyone have experience with this particular model sight?
I have used, installed, shimmed, etc. the modern production sights for Winchester and Marlin lever guns but never for a Savage. I'm convinced this sight is older than my rifle. Anyone with tips?

The more I play with it, the more I convinced that it is a great addition to the old rifle. Going to be a great learning experience. It is a far more intricate sight than the modern #'s in production today.

I have three of those sights mounted on M1899 Savages. If they weren't so bloody expensive, I would have them on all of them. On the early rifles with fixed front sights, they are a godsend when windage corrections are in order. The alternative, when using a standard 1A or 2A tang sight without windage adjust-ability, is to put shims under the sight base to cock it in one direction or another- a PIA.
