I've been tempted to trade my 1911 5" Kimber Custom Carry II for a Sig Sauer 1911 STX. The reason I want to get rid of the kimber is because I don't feel like it feeds reliably for a number of different bullets, and the barrel is oval making it hard to cast for it. I bought it used from a pawn shop so I don't think kimber would help me if I had problems with it. The main thing I am wondering about the Sigs is how tight are the stock barrels? What has the luck been for casting bullets for them?

Wish I had the coin for a Kimber and I do not have experience with the sig, so value my thoughts in accordance to what you paid for them. I think I would contact Kimber first. A phone call does not cost much. I would also think about a replacement barrel. I am not sure that you will get any more value in the sig 1911 than with the kimber 1911. If you were going to move from the 1911 design, I think you probably would not be disappointed in the sig offerings.

Bought a Sig C3 a month ago. It is a wonderful, accurate, reliable as gravity carry pistol. I sold both my mimbers a while back with no regrets.

I have three sigs and absolutely love them all.
P226 9mm 25 years old AT LEAST 25,000 rounds still perfect.

P226 .357 SIG great gun

1911 RCS. duty gun and daily carry. Shoots anything I put in it I LOVE IT.

As a firearms instructor I've shot everything under the sun. I keep coming back to the sigs.

A friend of mine recently bought a SIG 1911, and so far is very pleased with the way it shoots. I shot five rounds through it at a bank of field pistol chickens, and cleaned them. I wouldn't mind having one for sure.

I have a sig 226 in 357. Love it even with the dak trigger. Is it true their 1911s aren't "standard" barrel as in a lot of fitting required?

I have a German built P220 that is my carry weapon, mainly because it is lighter than my Colts. It is a well designed, well built, reliable weapon. That said, it is still a M1911A1 that resides beside my bed for things that go bump in the night. The Sig is great, but I still love my Colts!

The saying amongst my circle of shooting associates is that "Friends don't let their friends buy Kimbers".
I have two Colt 1911's and seven Sigs. My Sigs shoot cast just as well as my Colts. The 245 is my all time favorite.

I'd contact Kimber if there is a barrel problem. My old Classic Custom is a
really wonderful example of the 1911 tribe. Probably 35-40,000 rounds thru it and it is
absolutely reliable with a 2 lb trigger that has stayed that way since I put it on it back
in about '98 or so.

I have a Sig P6/225 and it is a good gun, too.

The P6 I used to have was a great gun, very accurate. Now, it had a very tight throat which didn't like oversized boolits or lengthy OAL.
