So, there is some build up on the face of my mold, and it is having a slight affect on my diameter.
Can I use a brass or bronze bristle bush or wire wheel to remove this build up?

I use a brass brush to clean my aluminum molds so yours should be no problem. While casting, if the boolits start to stick a bit I will use the brush between a couple casts and they will be back to dropping easy.
If they are cold and you notice the buildup, you may want to heat it up a bit to aid in the cleaning with the brass brush.

Kroil works very well at cleaning moulds and cleaning gun barrels. Kroil is a verygood penetrating oil.

Bronze brush is fine but I don't think I'd use a wire wheel, even on an iron mold.

Get it hot and wipe it off with a paper towell or old wash cloth.

Have you tried boiling it with dish soap? I do that initially with my new molds, but have not tried to clean up molds with it. Might work well.
