Would it be possible to add a Sub Forum dedicated to "Paper Patch Bullets for smokeless and blackpowder loads"?

There are enough differences in the utilization of Paper Patches as opposed to the normal cast bullets that this subject could be better served if addressed in one area.

I think that a Paper Patch Forum is a most excellent idea!
Open to both smokeless and black powder.
Alot of great ideas could be circulated.

My computer died and I'm at the library..and it's raining too hard to cast boolits in the lean-to. BUT my day just got better with the arrival of this forum.

Any one got suggestions on a paper patch boolit for my 50/90 SHILOH SHARPS? I will be using black powder only. So far I think I'm on the right track with

.490 un patched diameter
cup base, nose pour
adjustable length mould
tapered from base to ogive

I'm re-reading RANDOLPH WRIGHT'S BEGINNERS GUIDE TO PAPER PATCHED BULLETS as well as ORVILLE LOOMER'S PAPER PATCH booklet (from SHILOH) and PAUL MATTHER'S PAPER JACKET, and also looking at the various forums.

Thanks in advance

I have been patching since the 70s with complete success. Even tried 25cals that worked fine but are a real pain to patch. Too small for my fat fingers I guess. I have 5 rifles that have never seen a jacketed bullet and probley never will. I have even changed my 300RUM over to patched lead.

What type of velocities are you pushing with the RUM , I am just starting to play with paper patches in my .250 savage. and I am interested in what type of speed is possible.
