Here is a pic of a can I shot at 200 yards with my Swedish Mauser stock sights and they are hard to see. I wonder how this would do with a scope? The load was a 140 grain sierra HPBT bullet over 36.7 grains of IMR 4895 powder. I was sitting down and had a sandbag under the stock.I really like my Swede as the bolt action is like glass on these rifles.
I also have a 1903 A3 Springfield rifle that is a good shooter.

I have a like new 1942 M39 Husky, and it is ACCURATE.

I no longer post about loading 6.5x55 Swede's with cast boolits, found it often akin to kicking a hornet's nest

Mine is scoped also and made in 1900. It is very accurate with it's favorite loads. Try the 140 grain Hornady plain base with 44 grains of IMR 4350.

Have a question on the 6.5 Swede in general terms...there is one (nice sporterization) for sale in my area with a scope on it...head spaces fine...nice rifle...it's a 94. I know nothing about the Swede and in doing some on line browsing I notice several comments about it not being suitable for "modern factory sporting loads". No indication of kabooms or any thing but a fairly frequent discussion of them being not suitable for modern loads. I found quite a supply of PRVI Partisan at not too bad a price and figured to "get my brass" by buying some of that, shooting it up and then loading. Anyone have thoughts on the general strength of the action on these and what should or should not be done as far as loading. Since I'm not casting yet I'd be using Jword or purchased Cast boolits for now..

Many thanks

Still working up a load for my 1899 swede. Nice shooting at 200 with those sights. I will probably not add a scope to mine but the sights are hard to use. I find my Mosin sights to be easier.

The Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55 really shines with a full length barrel. If you want to scope a Swede I would look for one that has already had its collector value damaged by someone who decided to make it prettier by sanding the stock down. 140gr Sierra bullets and Reloader 22 allow the long barrel to squeeze out all the velocity you can safely push the bullet to and still stay within the safe zone of 45,000 psi. As far as Prvi Partizan ammo being to hot for a Swedish Mauser I would highly doubt it. The Swedish have beem pushing the Swedish action right up to the red line of pressure for years with the Norma loadings. Since the 6.5x55 cartridge has never been widely adopted here in the states in modern rifles I highly doubt that Prvi has loaded up a load that would greatly surpass anything previously loaded by other european ammo makers. I believe the reason these statements creap up is because the 6.5x55 cartridge can be loaded very hot as the case has lots of room for powder. In a 6.5x55 (98 Action) Custom Mauser I have I push 140gr bullets out the barrel really close to 3000 fps. ***This can not be done in a 96 action****
