686176861868616i have a remington rifled 20g slug barrel with cantaliever scope mount. from the factory it had a bad crown, i had a local machinist try to crown it but it didnt turn out. anyone on here re crown barrels?

Hello Silas, I would try some lapping compound or Bore Bright on the wad and fire some slugs, before I'd do any thing!

the barrel its self is fine, im not new to guns and some gun smithing lol. the crown was lopsided.

Not sure what sort of tools you have accessible but if you have or have access to a lathe, you can make up a "pin" to suit the bore with a slip fit and a shoulder on it then use machinist's blue or something else on the muzzle, slide the pin in and rotate a bit to rub and remove the surface coating, file/stone down the high spots until you have as close to flat as you can get. you could use a similar idea to lap the muzzle to dead flat after but you would want a fixed pin and separate lap with slip fit to the pin.

After flattening you want to break the sharp edge ever so slightly with a stone or very fine emery cloth.

While maybe a bit crude, I have done it and it worked for me.
