Hi there all, posted a question about a painted cast iron pot a few weeks ago and one fellow wanted to know how I made out with it. Well it was a paint and not a wax and was going to burn it out burning charcoal in it to remove any paint volatiles that may have had contaminated the mix. Well old cheapo here decided not to buy a whole bag of briquettes for the job so I just melted about two pounds of COWWs in the bottom and let it cook a bit. After smoking for awhile it seemed to burn it off and I commenced to smelt (see my post " smelting with a propane cast stove I don't think so). Anyhoo, just using it as recommended has worked nicely and as always I do appreciate the good advise and help all you nice folks provide!
