Well I know I haven't posted a lot, but I do read a bunch, and am in need of a little info from some of your more seasoned surplus users.

I am looking to order some bulk powder but I'm not real sure about the burn rates on some of it. I have read a lot of post on the 820 being fast and some slow. But I am looking at picking up some of the WC-297 and possibly some of the 820 as well. Cases loaded with these will be mostly .357 thru 454 using only the "j"type bullets.

I am also looking at picking up a supply of WC-868 but was unsure of the burn rate on it as I haven't seen anything listed.

If you wouldn't mind sharing some info on the WC-297 and WC-868, I sure would appreciate it. For the latter most loads would be from .308, to 25-06 and on up through .300 RUM again only using the "J" bullets.

Going by the listing I would say that the 297 should be fine with the load ranges I normally use. I would however love to hear of first hand experiences. I mainly load in the mid to higher weights for all my revolvers, as well as the rifles.

I really appreciate your time,
Mike / Tx

If you find anything, please let me know... I've never heard of WC 297 or WC 868. There is a WC 860, a bulky slow powder, slower than H4831. There is a Winchester powder labeled 296 but it is not a surplus powder. Its burning rate is slightly slower than WC820. WC820 is very similar to AA9 and not too far removed from 2400. If you can't find starting data for WC 820, you can safely start with beginning data for AA9 or 2400 and work up.

First I've heard of it. I could use a jug or 2 of the WC297. Also some of the Australian version of H4831SC.
