I haven't bothered you all for awhile, so here's my new hounding... I've been saying for over a year now that I want to start casting/reloading for rifle, and I haven't yet. I have 3 molds, 22cal, 7mm and 30cal. I now want the 22cal to be my first I really get into (granted Snuffy helped me get started with 7mm but I didn't keep it going, sorry Snuffy!).
So what are the chances my NOE 225-55, 22cal mold will work in these 2 rifles. I am trying to kill 2 guns with 1 mold here. My buddy has a Remington 700, .223 and I now have a Savage 11, 22-250. I believe they're both 1-12" twist barrels. Umm, what else might you all want to know...
I cast some from COWW, air cooled. I weighed 8 of them and they're all real close to 60 grains. Speaking of which, even though it's a 55 grain mold, I assume I go with a 60 grain mold load data eh? I have some gas checks from Blammer (just came in the mail today!) I assume I will be getting a .225 lyman sizing die and a 22cal "M" die once they're available to finish up my shopping.
We mostly want to be accurate at the range, at 100 yards for starters, but then we also have gongs at 200 and 300 yards as well. (hmm, will I hear a 22cal hit a gong?)
So I have the Lyman 49th book and Lyman cast boolit book to look over, but I just want to see if anyone has any pointers for me, anything to look for, try out, etc. I've gotten great advice both direct from some of you and from all the reading I do here... for my 9mm and 45acp, so just checking in with you all.
Thanks so much! -Brad
