Lyman sizing die O ring question

Do any of you know if I could buy a new O ring at a hardware store or it a specialized part that will need to be purchased from Lyman?

I've found them in the plumbing department of the local hardware store. Possibly 3/4" X 5/8" X 1/16", but take the die with you.

Rob: I go to home despot and get em in a box of 10 or 12. Take the old one with you for the proper sizing but they only cost about $3 for a box of 10 or 12.

Since we are on the subject of "O" rings - anybody know the size of the double rings on the piston of a Lyman 450 ?

My 450 has a brass sleeve around the piston so I can't help you.

From some quick measurements, the nearest standard size is 7/8 X 1-1/8 X 1/8 (AS568A-212). I've never worn one out. Up to you to prove it. ;)

Apply chassis grease or Vaseline to the O rings to avoid tearing them. This goes double with a Star.
Smear some on the ram while your at it.

For those who do not know, ask any decent hardware store for O rings by inside diameter/outside diameter/thickness. Ace hardware is another good supplier. Lowe's has O rings equivalent to LEE Products reloading die O rings in plumbing area at a cheap price.
