I asked:

Can you please tell me the actual reason why we can't find any company that has gunpowder in stock ?

Thanks

Demand has far exceeded our ability to deliver. We do not know how long this condition will go on. We are currently running 24/7. Thanks for your note.

There's ONE manufacturer of propellant grade nitrocellulose for the whole USA. And Radford takes care of the military first-

If we ever have a large accident at Radford, it will make things very interesting.

If Radford goes up, it's gonna put one heck of a dent in Montgomerey County. The plant is only 15 miles or so from here.

Anybody that has heard me talk about that little Mom & Pop shop I deal with has heard me mention Harold. He's retired from the Radford plant. He worked in the nitro section for 35 years. He told me that if the plant went up, it would level everything for a radius of a mile.

I feel very sure I'd hear it.

CORRECTION: 21 miles as per Google Earth.

I would have to say, that arms production is slightly at risk due to the components required are not all manufactured here in the US... This is kind sorta bad..

So you're saying that all the other powder plants in the USA are getting nitrocellulose shipped to them in railcars? That sounds like the Hazmat of all Hazmats to me. . .

yeah and just to work on the train crew [not drive the train] you have be certified and tested for the haz-mat license.

Looks like St. Marks also imports nitrocellulose from foreign manufacturers-

So there ARE other sources, but the further away your supplier, bigger the chance of an interruption.
