I have some WC820. I have seen articles saying that it's close to AA#9, H110 and 296. Is this so? They appear to be pretty close in burn rates. Thanks, Dennis

Si, there are different burn rates (so go careful on which one you have), awesome for 41Mag, 44Mag and 45Colt. I use a standard loading of 17.2 grains for all the previously mentioned. 41 with 220-250PB WFN, 44 with 280PB WFN and 45Colt with 300PB WFN. I hope you have over 8 pounds; after 1000's of loadings I am starting on my 2 jug of 5. I gave a friend some H110(Burn Rate) to try out and he got some of the GI-BRASS WC820 jugs.
Read up on some searches and you will find many happy ex and present users of this powder.

it depends on what lot you have. the Lot I have is the same as H110 other lots are like the other powders you mentioned. As I dont know what lot you have or for that matter what lot acts like what powder Use it as if it was the fastest powder listed and work up from there.

There's quite a few uses for 820.

Thank you for the responses and comments. I did do a search and understand the differences in the various lots. Apparently, the lot I have corresponds to data close to AA#9, as suggested by GI Brass from whom I purchased it. I'll probably just continue to use it for .30 Carbine. For my .45LC, .44Mag, .357Mag, etc. I'll just get some H110. Dennis

FME 820 works excellent in the 22 hornet, 30 carbine, 32/20, 357mag, 44mag, 454 casull ive been using it for over 20 years and have used over 25lbs so far. my lots are a little faster than 296/ H110 and slower than 2400
LOT #47276--- #47277---- #47323
Thers no reason to use 296 or H110 as accuracy and velocity is equal with 820 powder in every gun.
When i bought my supply it was $7.00 a pound.

The lot of WC820 I have states on the label; "10% faster than H110". So I reduce published H110 loads by 10% and it works great in my .44 and 357 magnums. I also have used some in my .223 (what a hoot!)...

Using the first batch of WC820 I got from Jeff (GI Brass) about 3 years ago, I'm using 14.5 grains behind a 110-grain bullet in the .30 carbine to reach the original design velocity of 1970 fps. This is about .5 grain more than an H110 load, so this lot is a bit slower than H110. I just got another 2 jugs from Jeff and when I get into them, I'll need to recheck my loads.

Should be great in .357 Mag and .44 Mag if I ever reload for those, again. It seems all my pistol shooting involves a 1911.

Cheers,
Richard

I have a canister (gallon jug) of WC-820 and the lot number is 47320...

I have compared it side by side with equal charges of AA#9 and the velocities produced are nearly identical...

Mine was advertised as "H-110 Burn Rate"...

Not so--it is much faster than H-110...

Good-luck...BCB

I have a couple of jugs of Lot number 47320, and I also find it is much more like AA#9 than H-110!

I have three lots. I've compared them using the Ruger lever 44 by measuring resulting case expansion and boolit impact location. Two of the "used" lots are gray looking and were about equal, and the other is a very black "never used one" at 1.5 grains slower. 18.5 versus 20.0 with a 250 LBT. One chroned at 1500; don't remember which of the flavors. ... felix

What is your start/max load for the .223 and WC820? I have 16# of the stuff.

I think that unless you have had the powder a LONG time you can assume you have the AA#9 speed.

If you bought some of the WC 820 (fast) that was very limited in the time that is was avaliable.
My batch of WC 820 (fast) is lot # UNK . . . Yes, UNK, not any number, it may have been so fast that they never accepted/used it so the never gave it a lot #.

Trapdoor man, if you look at his pic, I am guessing those are charge weights above the black diamonds.

I really like Accurate #9 for my 45 Colt medium heavy loads. I would love to get some WC820 to experiment with if I could find some. GI Brass just listed slow powders for 50BMG and such. If anyone has some that they don't want let me know.

And I would also love to get your data on those 45-70 loads using WC820 / #9. I emailed Accurate requesting data on #9 for cast boolit loads in my 45-70 but they said no, use 5744.
