I think not, bone head maybe, lol.
I didn't know what to title this as. I have pretty good sight settings for the 45-70 and am going to give it my best with CB's this coming weekend on those steel critters. I have some pretty stiff loads, way more than I need but they are shooting good. I am going to give trailboss a better try next year.
405'2 loaded with TB, forget the load but plenty mild for 50M
I went with this load In order to get low enough at 50M and then my others out to 200M
405's loaded with 25.0 /IMR4227
I will shoot these at 100 and 150

500 grain Lee boolit loaded with a dose of SR4759
I know over kill but it will take down a ram with a bad hit.
I tried to get on shoot off chickens but just didn't have enough wrist left after getting sighters. I am going to shoot this as my last gun of the day.
I hope the MD will take note of this and help me out with shootoffs, say maybe full footed rams? or better yet, two full footed rams back to back, take them off any way you can?

How much 4759 are you putting behind the 500 gr boolit?

Great, I have to give it a try. It is hard to find loads for the powder. I also have 378 and 400 gr boolits I want to try it with.
I use 31 to 32.5 gr's with various boolits and bullets around 300 gr's.
I was just going to work loads but didn't want to guess on starting or stopping loads. I just don't have enough of the test boolits to work the loads with and need to use my boolits first to get in the ball park. From your 500 gr boolit load, it looks like a good bet that I can start at 25 gr's for the 400 gr.

I don't usually post data, but this was all book loads. I think they were listed for trap door pressures, as TC doesn't recommend using 500's.

I found a few loads in my pet loads book. It shows 25 gr's with the 393 gr boolit for group one rifles and 25 gr's with the 518 gr boolit for group 2 and 3 rifles. So we should be good.
