Just for kicks and giggles, I tried a lead BB shot in my .177 air rifle. The shot is just barely smaller than the chamber and drops in, but lodges against the rifling lands. I ran a half dozen or so through my caliper and got diameters from .173 to .182.

I test fired a few rounds at my hanging bottle target off the front porch and hit it every time. That ain't sayin' much, though, as the bottle's only about 50 feet from the steps where I sit to shoot.

When I get a chance, I'll put the rifle on a rest, set up a target and see how these BB shots do for accuracy.

A member sent me 33 ounces of lead BB shot. At about 8 grains each, I've got an estimated 1,800. That oughta' hold me a week or so, ya' think? :bigsmyl2:

I've got to get one of those air rifles soon. I keep reading these posts about them and really being envious...........

might be able to do some light pest control..
I was at the local sportsmans warehouse and they had pointy tipped pellets on sale for 1.99 a tin and flat nosed ones for 2.50 a little plastic box.
I think I have enough to last me a while now.
cost me $25.00 and a little change.

I just love shooting my pellet rifle. I have a benjamin discovery PCP with a hand pump. While i'm waiting for my melting pot to come up to temp I shoot at targets of opportunity in the yard. Everything from dandelions to starlings, to the occasional pepsi can....

Round lead balls are not recommended in spring pistols airguns due to the poor seal vs pellets. PCPs handle them no problem. I shot a lot of plated HN balls through my custom 2240. They were not as accurate as pellets however.
