renegade 62 smooth bore barrel , I have heard some folks are making a sleeve for the shot from index cards, any one doing this would like to know more about it . and the best wads for it . thanks

My experience with this type of experment was the cup did not split and very poor patterns. News print was better, under size news print was best using a undersize pre mesured charge of shot container. There was no advantage in my guns so I am still using shot over normal wad loads.

My GM .615 dia barrel did fair with just wadded Newsprint.

In my .56 SB (28 gauge), I usually use a 1/8th inch Nitro card over powder and a half of one over the shot. I sometimes use a 28 ga plastic wad but don't see much advantage for the squirrel hunting I do with mine.

Look at the sticky in the muzzleloading forum for the the muzzleloading shotgun topic. I've been using Vic Starr's method for over 35 years, and it is the best way to go. You are wasting your time with other methods.
