Bought a bunch of old reloading stuff yesterday at a sale. There is a mold that is marked "Ideal" and under that "Middlefield Conn USA"
There is a #410 stamped in one place and the #459 stamped in two places. I have searched the various lists of Lyman and Ideal molds and don't see this one on any of them. It is a roundball mold. Any ideas? chig

This must be different than the one I have. Mine is a double cavity Lyman stamped 410459, in consecutive numbers. It is a 220 grain swc design, for the 41 magnum cartridge.
Yours is a .410 diameter ball mold, with a part number of 459. You can mic the cavity to confirm dimension.

the #459 is to identify the two mold halves as a pair.

the 410 could designate the diameter, a mold number, or how many balls a pound of lead will make.
410 balls would be something like 18 grs per ball though.

Without casting a ball it appears to mic very close to 410 diameter. Thanks that fits perfectly with the numbers.

A 41 ball mold would be fun for 41 gallery loads or possibly for a RB for the .410 shotshell loads. What do you want for it?
