Picked up a new old Ruger Blackhawk

I have been looking for another .357 with a bit of a longer barrel to stretch the limits of the cartridge a bit and I ran across this gun at what I would certainly call a steal, well under the $500 mark. It's an all original Old Model Blackhawk that's never been back to the factory. It's been fired, but not much and the action is as slick as any that I have seen. I have a few loads ready to give this old horse another try.

I've got one just like that but my son claimed it as his. Gets a lot of use. 358429 drop weight with 6 parts ww and 4 parts Linotype is 157 gr. Sized .358" and lubed with Alox I get 1320 fps with 10 gr of Blue Dot and 1280 with 13.5 gr of 2400. The Blue Dot shows an edge in accuracy at 50 yards over the 2400.

Thats the load of 2400 I use for my 358429 as well. I use the same for the HP too. Very nice Blackhawk by the way. Mines a 1969 6.5" but not in as nice of shape. Keep it away from the Wife & kids!!! You'll never get it back!!
