I need a recommendation for a load for this. The ammo is actually to be fired in a .357 Mag. I prefer Bullseye, Red Dot, 231, Unique, AA #7 and #9, because they are what I have on hand.

NuJudge,

Saeco #399 Good Mould(there I spelled it proper like), Good Boolit, one of my favorites.
First off what are you shooting this in? Chamber size & bore/groove size will make a big difference. In powders you have Unique would do good 6.2 - 7 grains w/Fed 205 or wsr primer will shoot good. Watch the pressure as this may be hard on brass. H4227 & 2400 work good with that boolit.

ck the acuracy without the gas ck it may susprise you , ive used 4.0 bulleysey and 4.0 tight group in 357 cases for almost the same velocity of about 800 fps and excellent accuracy

You didn't list Blue Dot but we used to use it when shooting bowling pins using 38 spl brass and 230 grn wad cutters. The load was never in any books but didn't stretch the brass. as one noted watch for pressure when using fast powders & heavy bullets. The mold is an H&G and I believe it's # 292. Cartridges looked like a small roll of dimes.

If those were the powders I had on hand, I certainly wouldn't waste a GC unless I wanted to send it down range with authority. I'd try about 9.5-10 grains of #9. Then rotate primers you have on hand until it makes you smile.

Friend of mine uses the #396, which is the same thing in plain base. He uses it to shoot plates and poppers with a Python. I will try to find his load. I just bought a #396 mold to use for silhouette in a Ruger Maximum.
